At BriefCatch, we use advanced technologies to enhance legal writing, including optional features that leverage artificial intelligence and related technologies. Our approach to AI is guided by three core principles:
BriefCatch helps legal professionals improve their writing skills and create more persuasive and effective documents. The system works by analyzing written documents and emails and providing users with real-time feedback on elements such as sentence length, readability, and word choice. The software analyzes text for tone, readability, and grammar.
BriefCatch delivers editing suggestions in two ways:
BriefChat is an interactive writing advisor available in Word and Outlook. This feature provides real-time writing insights based on the expertise of BriefCatch’s founder, Ross Guberman.
BriefChat only has access to your prompts, and does not have access to any Word document or Outlook message. Your prompts and responses are not stored, nor can they be seen by anyone at BriefCatch.
All BriefCatch generative AI processing happens in a private instance within Microsoft Azure, using a variety of large and small language models. Other than Microsoft, no third-party hosted services (such as OpenAI’s direct AI) are ever used.
BriefCatch enterprise administrators must expressly activate generative AI features in order for them to be available to any user. Access can be activated firm-wide or with exclusions of particular individuals.
By default, individual BriefCatch users must initiate AI processing for every document, unless they expressly activate automatic processing.
All connections to and from all BriefCatch products are encrypted in transit and at rest. We do not collect, log, or retain the text from your documents. No one can use, view, or reconstruct any of your document text at any point in processing.
Neither your documents nor their contents are ever retained. Retention of your personal information (like the name and email address you use to access the platform) is retained subject to our company Privacy Policy. Read our full Privacy Policy here: https://briefcatch.com/privacy-policy/.
BriefChat is not intended for processing confidential, sensitive, privileged, non-public, or otherwise protected information. LawCatch disclaims any liability for the unauthorized access, use, or disclosure of any information contained in the documents you upload.
It is your responsibility to ensure that any materials you upload to BriefChat do not contain confidential, sensitive, privileged, non-public, or otherwise protected information. You bear sole responsibility for the content of the information you share on the platform. LawCatch expressly disclaims any liability for unauthorized access, use, or disclosure of the information in the documents you upload.
At BriefCatch, we believe that AI should be a tool for empowerment, not a source of risk or uncertainty. Our commitment to Responsible AI is built on three foundational pillars:
Innovating to Serve Our Users
Safeguarding User Data & Trust
Ensuring User Autonomy
By upholding these principles, we ensure that BriefCatch remains a trusted, secure, and user-centered legal writing tool.
Writing is vital to every part of your legal career. BriefCatch empowers you to stand out above the rest.
