We use advanced technologies to deliver BriefCatch, including artificial intelligence and related technologies. Our use of AI always complies with three key promises:
More specifically, here’s how each of our products use AI technology and how your data is protected.
BriefCatch is an AI-powered software system that is designed to help legal professionals improve their writing skills and create more persuasive and effective documents. The system works by analyzing written documents and providing users with real-time feedback on elements such as sentence length, readability, and word choice. The software analyzes documents for tone, readability, and grammar.
BriefCatch currently includes four distinct offerings in its product lineup—BriefCatch Standalone, BriefCatch 3, BriefCatch 4, BriefCatch Express and BriefCatch for Outlook. BriefCatch is also available in a Preview application, which includes new features and improvements prior to general release. All policies applicable to BriefCatch products also apply to the BriefCatch Preview channel.
All BriefCatch offerings leverage sophisticated, AI-driven algorithms to propose writing enhancements and evaluations via a unique, proprietary rules engine. No Generative AI services are used in BriefCatch 3, BriefCatch Express, BriefCatch for Outlook or BriefCatch Standalone.
All connections to and from all BriefCatch products are encrypted in transit and at rest. We do not collect, log, or retain the text from your documents. No one can use, view, or reconstruct any of your document text at any point in processing.
Neither your documents nor their contents are ever retained. Retention of your personal information (like the name and email address you use to access the platform) are retained subject to our company Privacy Policy. Read our full Privacy Policy here: https://briefcatch.com/privacy-policy/.
BriefCatch 4 is the latest generation of BriefCatch, and includes BriefChat, a conversational assistant delivering immediate insight and advice on legal-writing topics based on the work of our founder, Ross Guberman. BriefChat leverages Generative AI, subject to the following protections:
BriefChat harnesses the cutting-edge capabilities of OpenAI’s ChatGPT-4 and secure API, optimized through sophisticated embedding techniques to cater specifically to the legal sector.
All prompts and responses to and from BriefChat (and subsequently to and from OpenAI) are encrypted in transit and at rest.
Materials uploaded to BriefChat are subject to two separate, but aligned, retention periods.
OpenAI retains all data uploaded to its servers (via the ClientCatch API connection) for a period of 30 days to monitor for abuse. You can read more about OpenAI’s practices and policies, which are subject to change, at https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.
Uploaded materials are retained by LawCatch for the same period they are retained by OpenAI so that we may provide necessary cooperation with OpenAI if abuse is identified. At the end of this thirty day period, all uploaded materials are deleted from our servers
Retention of your personal information (like the name and email address you use to access the platform) are subject to our company Privacy Policy, but are generally retained for as long as you have a BriefCatch account. Read our full Privacy Policy here: https://briefcatch.com/privacy-policy/.
